Ensuring a safe working environment for the associates and managers within our fulfillment centers is priority number one at Amazon. Our World Wide Safety Team is continually evaluating our processes and procedures to maintain excellence in this area. As a Safety Intern you will impact the fulfillment center where you work by taking on a specific safety project.

The Safety Intern will be expected to:

• Research the assigned safety issue
• Work with the site resources to implement a solution
• Ultimately reduce the safety risk related to this issue

Safety Project may include:

• Analyzing the ergonomics of a process
• Implementing a mandated OSHA program
• Developing Safety & Health training
• Reducing the hazards associated with high-risk tasks

At the completion of the project, you will have the opportunity to present your process improvement to Amazon Senior Management.

    • Currently working towards a bachelor's degree with a graduation date between December 2016 and June 2017
    • Willingness to relocate for the summer
    • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Experience with OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910 preferred
  • Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management preferred
  • Experience analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
  • Passion for safety
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
  • Experience communicating safety needs at all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
  • Experience analyzing accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issue
  • Strong analytical and safety risk assessment skills
  • Prior intern & co-op experience in the safety related field a plus
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910 preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, or equivalent
